Cache was founded in January 2022 in San Francisco by Srikanth Narayan, a former Engineering and Product Leader at Uber and Alphabet. Srikanth, who had experienced concentrated stock positions in his own portfolio, was inspired to start Cache after discovering sophisticated investment products that the ultra-wealthy used to manage similar financial situations.

After realizing how few people in his network were aware of these solutions, he launched Cache to make these advanced investment products accessible to everyone with equity compensation.

Inspired by the mission, top talent from tech and finance have joined Cache. The interdisciplinary team has built world-class products at Meta, Goldman Sachs, Uber, Wealthfront, Amazon, Stripe, and Eaton Vance.

Cache launched to the public in March 2024, and has completed multiple closes for its exchange funds. As of May 2024, thousands of stockholders from about 250 different companies have enrolled on the platform. Dozens of wealth management firms around the country are working with Cache.
