Start at the receiving firm. Log in to the brokerage account where you want the shares to land, find its transfer form (usually labeled ACATS, transfer of assets, or transfer an account), and submit the request there. That firm then pulls the shares from your Cache brokerage account, which is custodied with Apex Clearing.
The form will ask for details about the account you are transferring from. A statement showing your holdings at Cache is available in your portal under Documents, and it has the account number, the delivering firm information, and your current positions.
Two things that keep a transfer from getting rejected:
The registration at the receiving firm needs to match your Cache account exactly. Mismatched names or account titling is the most common reason ACATS requests bounce.
Submit for the full position rather than a partial amount unless you have a reason to split it.
Once the receiving firm submits the request, an ACATS transfer typically takes 3 to 5 business days. Cost basis moves with the shares and usually posts a couple of days after the positions land.
A full transfer will close your Cache brokerage account. If you want to keep it open with a zero balance for a future contribution to our exchange funds, email support@usecache.com and the team will take care of it.
