How does the cost basis for the redeemed portfolio get reported?
Updated over a week ago

The tax code requires a certain method of cost-basis allocation to ensure that the cumulative cost basis of the distributed basket is equivalent to the cost basis of the contributed stock.

When you redeem from the fund, the cost basis is received by your Cache brokerage account, and further propagated if you move the shares to another brokerage account through Cost Basis Reporting Service (CBRS).

See more detail about your cost basis at exchange fund redemption.
