What's the difference between DTC Transfer and ACATS Transfer?
What's the difference between DTC Transfer and ACATS Transfer?
Updated over 6 months ago

ACATS stands for Automated Customer Account Transfer Service, which is an electronic system that allows customers to move their financial assets from one brokerage firm or bank to another. When a transfer is initiated within the Cache platform, ACATS is used to safely and securely transfer stocks to our brokerage accounts.

DTC Transfer refers to a transfer through Depository Trust Company, a centralized securities depository that provides settlement services for almost all corporate, equity, and money market securities in the United States. When a counterparty brokerage initiates a transfer to Cache, DTC Transfer is used.

Both of these systems allow stock shares to be transferred efficiently between outside brokerages and Cache. See more about our financial infrastructure.
